Sunday July 26th Part 2
After Kenny and I finished playing name that tune, Pat & Chuck (Dixie's parents) came over and Chuck brought his guitar and we all sang for about an hour or so. We had a really good time. After they left Dixie and I sat around and crocheted. I finally headed off to bed after 11:00.
Monday July 27th
I didn't get up until about 9:00. We got ready and left for Amish country about 10:45. We just took the back roads and looked for the Amish men working in the fields with their horses. We got there right at lunch time so there wasn't much going on. We decided to eat lunch at Mrs. Yoder's Amish kitchen. It was very good! After lunch we headed back out and we saw several folks working in the fields. We saw something new this time as far as machinery goes. We saw two different Amish family's and on each farm a younger boy was driving a team of horses that was pulling a long wagon that was pulling the hay off the ground and bringing it up a shoot onto the wagon. Then the older Amish man (probably the father) was using a pitch fork and forking the hay and throwing it onto the wagon. That was really neat. We finally headed home about 3:30 and stopped in Dalton Ohio at P. Graham Dunn. This was a wood working shop that engraves the wood with laser. If we had been there early we could have seen the factory in operation. We enjoyed looking at all the items they engrave. We finally left there about 5:45 and headed back to Dixie's. They were just making dinner when we arrived. We all ate dinner together and Kenny left for work about 7:30. Dixie and I crocheted until about midnight then I finally headed off to bed.
Tuesday July 28th
We slept til about 9:30. We had pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We got packed up and left Dixie's about 11:00 heading home. We stopped about 1:30 in Marietta, OH for lunch because I went very low with my blood sugar. I went to sleep in WV and woke up just north of Wytheville. I crocheted all the time I wasn't sleeping. We stopped in Jonesville, NC for supper. I noticed that one of the waitresses looked like a cousin-in-law but couldn't make the connection. Our waitress came over and asked if we were from that area and I told her no and among the small talk told her I did have an aunt that once lived there. She left and in just a few minutes the other waitress came out to the dinning area. I caught her eye and said to Don, pointing my finger at her, that's Heather. He said yes it is. She nodded and I motioned for her to come over to our table. She said she had put the other waitress up to asking us where we were from just to make sure we were who she thought we were. We chatted for a bit and then finished our meal. I got to speak to her one more time before we left. It was so good to see her. I have not seen her for a year or maybe two. We finally made it home about 8:30. Tomorrow is Donnie Lee's 21st birthday. We will all be going out to eat tomorrow evening. Don and I will then be heading up to Lenoir on Thursday. I won't have internet there but will catch up the blog when I can. We certainly have enjoyed our travels this summer and are already making plans for next summer. However, we hope to get a few more close trips in this year.

We stopped in Independence, VA for a late lunch. I drove from there to Paint Creek, WV. Don was the official "picture taker" then. He didn't seemed to be excited about taking all the pictures. We ran into ran just before we stopped at the travel plaza at Paint Creek. Don took over the driving and it rained on us a good bit from that point on. We stopped and ate supper and finally made to Dixie and Kenny's at 9:00. Kenny was called into work early so Don, Dixie and I just sat around and chatted til about 11:00.
Thursday July 23rd
I got up about 8:00. We planned to go into Berlin, OH to visit the Amish country. The children didn't want to go with us and Kenny had to sleep, but we convinced Dixie to go with us. We left about 11:00 and headed straight to Berlin. We went to the Holmes County Flea Market and then on to the Amish Flea Market. After that we went to Burger King for lunch and then back to shopping at Sol's Exchange. Dixie and I spent the next 3 & 4 hours at Sol's. We got home about 6:30 or so and had supper. Kenny fixed chicken casserole from Dixie's recipe. It was really good. Dixie and I looked at handmade cards she had made and I crocheted. Don spent time on the computer. We finally headed off to bed about 12:30.
Friday July 24th
Don and I had to go back to Berlin by ourselves today. Dixie had an appointment and was having a creative memories workshop at 6:30 so she was unable to go. We hit the western store so Don could pick up some drill tex shoes for my dad and Bobby. They didn't have all the shoes they wanted but he did get some. We then went to Kaufman's and Country Gatherings. We then went back to Burger King for lunch. We then drove all around Holmes county looking for the Amish that might be working in their fields. We didn't see much. We finally headed back to Dixie's about 5:30. We stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and got back to her house about 7:00. Some of the folks had arrived for the Creative Memories work shop so Don & I ate sloppy joe's that Kenny had made. After supper we started on the workshop and made several cards. It was very nice. We finished up with the workshop about 10:00 and most everyone left by 11:00. Dixie and I sat up chatting and working on other items and finally headed off to bed about 1:00.
Saturday July 25th
I got up about 8:00 and finished my crocheting. Dixie got up about 9:30 and we got ready to head off to one of her friend's home for a Stamping up workshop. We made 12 cards 4 sets of 3 different designs. We had a great time. We broke for lunch and then came back and finished our last set. We had a great time. We finally left about 4:45 and headed back to Dixie's. Their gospel group was singing at a church a short distance from her home. We finally got dressed and made it to church at 6:55. Dixie's dad asked me to sing so I did. Church ended at 9:00 and we went to the fellowship hall for refreshments. We got home about 10:30 and Dixie's mom and dad (Pat and Chuck) came with us. They stayed for just a bit. We stayed up til 11:30 and finally headed off to bed.
Sunday July 26th
Kenny and his mom Carol made breakfast. We all got ready and headed off to church. Their church began at 10:30 for the contemporary service. although we are more traditional, the service was very nice. I don't think I have ever been in a contemporary service before. We have attended churches were they did sing some contemporary songs though. After church we went to Farmer Boy to eat and the meal was great. We headed back home and Kenny played "name that tune" with all the song he had downloaded to his IPOD. He has a lot of 50's, 60's and 70's country music and I certainly enjoyed it.
